What Are Your Favorites this Fall?

A friend of mine on one of my fave Facebook forums told us about this idea for defining your style. You look in your closet and identify your three favorite items in your wardrobe. Then you identify the three items you wear least, and for both, you try to figure out why.

Fun and educational! So here's what I came up with when I did this exercise.

My Three Fall Capsule Favorites

Here are my three...

Brown pullover w/ a twist :), burnt umber cardi and green sweater/duster. I think all three have more structure, are good strong colors so can be paired to create contrast and are rich enough. Plus, they are all flattering.

Two of them create angles just by existing! Which is a good thing when you're a dressing your truth type 3.

Least Worn Fall Capsule Pieces

And these, well, not so much!...

Brown lace cardigan, green tank, flouncy tiered prairie maxi skirt/dress. I think the green tank might not be rich enough. It's okay, but not ideal, so I don't choose it often.

The brown lace cardi is a great color but is not nearly substantial enough! Not enough structure. The exact same thing is true of both the skirt and the dress.

What's in your closet that you never wear?

"I thought I didn't feel good in my clothes because I was not my ideal weight. I am still not my ideal weight, but since learning how to dress my truth I feel like I look good. I haven’t felt that way for years. And all thanks to this remarkable new way of seeing myself." –Michelle, posting on Carol Tuttle’s Facebook wall.

A sparkle necklace totally counts! Thanks for linking up and visiting Yellow Blackbird.

Hi Aubree! Oh good, I'm glad my earrings (I think that's what you meant) count. Thanks for stopping by.

Lol, I was the necklace :) But your earrings are very cute. Have you thought about dyeing your green tank a deeper colour? I'm always taking clothes that I love the shape of but hate the colour and dyeing them. I use a in the machine dye and stick a couple of things in so it's really easy. :)

Hi Samantha! LOL! Thanks, I like them, too. You know, I am not the least bit crafty and am always afraid that if I mess with something, I will ruin it. So I have never tried to dye any of my clothes.

If you are really going to ditch the skirt... I think it would still make for something comfy around the house. I really like the color of it.

Hi Denise! I do, too. I LOVE that color!!! It's why I was willing to buy it twice in prairie style when I don't really like it. But if I can't fix them by adding something more substantial, then your idea might be a good one.

Oh thanks!! Yes, I think it, too, and it's such a blessing because these are the colors I love!
